Featured Service – Cloud Backup

This month’s featured service is Cloud Backup. This service is very much overlooked by small and medium sized businesses, often because people think their data is automatically being backed up by Google or Microsoft. Whilst both companies offer cloud storage and syncing, they are not true backup services as they only provide temporary ‘trash’ recovery and version history for accidental deletions. A real backup creates independent, versioned copies of data that can be restored regardless of when the file was altered or removed. Implementation of a backup service requires the use of specialised third-party software that pulls data out of the cloud and stores it in secure, disconnected archives.
